Vikes marketing register and donor list (email list)

Purpose of the register

Information from Vikes’ marketing register and donor list is used for the Foundation’s newsletter and news mailings, marketing of donated products, surveys, seminar calls and similar activities, which can be done either by email or through the Foundation’s website. Monthly donors are invoiced monthly.

Data content of the register

The register contains the following information about subscribers to Vikes’ email list, monthly donors and contacts of client companies and backers:

  • Name of the organisation
  • Name of contact person
  • Contact email address
  • Any authorisations, consents or anti-solicitation information

Regular data sources for the register

You can join the mailing list and become a donor yourself via the Vikes website or register your interest at various events.

Regular disclosure of data

Vikes does not disclose any information from its customer database to third parties. Data may only be disclosed to the Finnish authorities upon request in accordance with applicable laws. For donors, billing information is provided to the accounting firm used by Vikes for billing purposes.

Transfer of data outside the EU or EEA

Personal data will not be transferred outside Finland.

Principles for the protection of the register

Email list information is kept confidential only in electronic format, in the password-protected Mailchimp program. The donor list is stored in a password-protected Woocommerce service. Vikes hardware is protected by a firewall and passwords.

Verification and correction of data and prohibition of mailings

Persons in the customer register have the right to inspect their own data and to require the correction of inaccurate data on the basis of a written, signed request. They also have the right to object to the use of their data and to request their deletion. The controller must be informed in writing of the prohibition. Each email also contains a link to unsubscribe from the list.

Use of cookies on the Vikes website

The website uses cookies to ensure that the service is secure, efficient and user-friendly.

We use technology from foreign service providers on our website and the information collected by their cookies, if any, is transferred to and stored on their servers, some of which may be located outside the EU. These include. Google Analytics analytics tool and WooCommerce online store.

WooCommerce cookies

In order to keep the store engaged with the contents of your shopping cart, WooCommerce uses three cookies:

    • woocommerce_cart_hash
    • woocommerce_items_in_cart
    • wp_woocommerce_session_
  • The first two cookies contain information about the shopping cart as a whole and help WooCommerce to know when the contents of the shopping cart change.
  • The third cookie (wp_woocommerce_session_) contains a unique code for each customer , so that the store knows where to find the contents of the shopping cart in the database for each customer.
  • No personal information is stored in these cookies.

General information about cookies

A cookie is a small, page-less text file sent to and stored on a user’s computer. Cookies do not harm users’ computers or files.

It is possible to disable cookies. You can delete it in your browser settings.
