A guide for more diverse and inclusive journalism
WHOSE KNOWLEDGE? A Guide to More Diverse and Inclusive Journalism is a practical information package on how to strengthen diversity and equality in the journalistic media – both as an individual journalist and as part of editors and teams. The guide is based on interviews with media professionals and media researchers.
Media content always involves choices about what to include in the debate and what not to report, from whose point of view to report, who to reports and to whom. The media has the power to act as a conduit of information. The responsibility to do so requires taking into account the full spectrum of humanity in both content, narratives and image choices, as well as in the creators of the content.
The guide has been produced by RARE Media and its partners as part of the RARE X Diversity research project funded by the Media Research Foundation. The research component of the project involved interviews with ten media professionals or researchers and an open public survey, which attracted over 550 responses
