The participants included practitioners of different religions, atheists, those who have found spirituality independent of religion, as well as church-goers and non-church-goers. The dialogue brought together a diversity of voices and perspectives.  <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\"134233117\":false,\"134233118\":false,\"335551550\":0,\"335551620\":0,\"335559738\":240,\"335559739\":240}\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p aria-level=\"3\"><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">What was left for journalists to ponder?<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{\"134233117\":false,\"134233118\":false,\"134245418\":true,\"134245529\":true,\"335551550\":0,\"335551620\":0,\"335559738\":281,\"335559739\":281}\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Defining concepts is the key to constructive debate.<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> Traditions, rituals and religion are easily confused,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> which can create strong emotions, confuse people into having overlapping discussions on slightly different topics, and thus build up unnecessary juxtapositions.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\"134233117\":false,\"134233118\":false,\"335551550\":0,\"335551620\":0,\"335559738\":240,\"335559739\":240}\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Journalists can contribute to constructive debate by focusing on constructive emotions.<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> Curiosity is more valuable than clickbait headlines and blame-shifting. The media should be more courageous in looking at phenomena and people without preconceptions. <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\"134233117\":false,\"134233118\":false,\"335551550\":0,\"335551620\":0,\"335559738\":240,\"335559739\":240}\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">How is religion and community in schools covered in the media? <\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The discussion identified many universal forms of holiness and spirituality, such as nature, friendship, love and aid. Can the media steer the school debate towards common values rather than emphasising differences? <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\"134233117\":false,\"134233118\":false,\"335551550\":0,\"335551620\":0,\"335559738\":240,\"335559739\":240}\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The headline level plays a huge role.<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> Headlines can either awaken curiosity and understanding or fuel outrage and juxtaposition.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\"134233117\":false,\"134233118\":false,\"335551550\":0,\"335551620\":0,\"335559738\":240,\"335559739\":240}\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p aria-level=\"3\"><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">We will continue the debate again in April with a new topic that has caused a stir in the media - join us!<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{\"134233117\":false,\"134233118\":false,\"134245418\":true,\"134245529\":true,\"335551550\":0,\"335551620\":0,\"335559738\":281,\"335559739\":281}\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The event was part of <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Vikes and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sopiva.org\/\">Sopiva ry<\/a> co-<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> organized <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/vikes.fi\/uutiset\/moniaanisen-median-kuumat-perunat\"><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Moni\u00e4\u00e4nisen median kuumat perunat<\/span><\/b><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> discussion series.
