Travel grants for journalists

Every year, Vikes awards journalists a few travel grants to Journalists based in Finland to travel to selected developing countries.

Vikes travel grants are intended for journalists to cover travel and working expenses.

In 2023, we will distribute 1-3 grants for trips to Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Kenya, Nepal, Tanzania, Uganda and El Salvador.

The grant is worth €3,000 and can be used for expenses, work (with a Finnish tax card) or both.

Vikes hopes that applicants will produce quality journalism from their travels for their chosen channels. We also expect a small communication contribution to Vikes’ development communication. It could be a short Instagram take over, an online news story with pictures or a small package of photos.

The next call for grants will take place in January 2023. The start of the application process will be announced separately.
